Clara Hancock in her studioClara Hancock / London

Art has been a constant thread through Clara’s life, from her childhood in Colombia to her work in London today.

Clara studied philosophy and aesthetics in Colombia, followed by history of art at L’École du Louvre in Paris. In London, she turned from studying art to making it, exploring sculpture, ceramics, lino and wood-block printing, silk-screen printing, glass fusion and painting on silk.

Silk gives her a versatile surface for rich colour, layered forms and expressive marks. The techniques she has learned across different materials continue to inform each piece.

Her ideas come from travel, architecture and landscapes, as well as music, gardens, museum visits and the details found on an ordinary walk.
